Founded in February of 2024, Central Alabama Marines-Council is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit corporation organized to enhance the focal point of support for U.S. Military and Veteran families residing within the central Alabama region. Through the delivery of innovative educational initiatives, our charity is uniquely positioned to support and advocate for military and veteran families, along with their adolescent and school-aged children.
While our organization recognizes the mission and successes of many other public charities and veteran service organizations throughout the community, our charity’s value proposition is defined by the strength of our partnerships and the operationalization of our four Lines of Effort.
Central Alabama Marines-Council has no members and the board of directors and officers serve without compensation. Further, the charity is not affiliated with the United States Marine Corps or any other government entity.
Inspired by the indomitable spirit of the U.S. Marine Corps, our Board of Directors are privileged to serve our community through a deep admiration for U.S. military service and a shared commitment to preserving its legacy.
The Charity’s Board of Directors, also called “the Council,” is comprised of retired U.S. Marines, military veterans from other branches, as well as esteemed civilian business professionals from the local community. Together, we stand as a strong and cohesive force, driven by a common purpose to preserve the American warrior ethos and provide focused support to U.S. military and veteran families residing within the central Alabama region.
As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we pledge to organize educational opportunities that reflect core values such as honor, courage, and commitment, while carrying forward the traditions and spirit that have defined the character of Marines for nearly two and a half centuries.
Since 1775, U.S. Marines have embodied unwavering dedication and vibrant camaraderie, living by the motto “Semper Fidelis” (Always Faithful). Marines go above and beyond to serve their comrades-in-arms and safeguard their communities. With deep respect for the Marine Corps’ legacy, and the sacrifices made by Marines, we take great pride in establishing unique veteran and military family support networks fostering continued camaraderie through community leadership, the delivery of world-class summer youth education programs, and other community impact initiatives that extract the importance of American patriotism and deliver unique value within the community.
Local Summer Youth Education Programs
Our charity proudly hosts education-focused summer youth camps to support local military and veteran families. Held each June and July, these camps combine enrichment and academics for students in 1st through 8th grades, helping to prevent summer learning loss. More than just a summer camp, this program builds connections, encourages curiosity, and celebrates the families who have dedicated their lives to serving our nation.
Annual Marine Corps Birthday Celebration
Each November, we take pride in organizing and supporting the local Marine Corps Birthday celebration. This cherished tradition unites the community in honoring the legacy of the U.S. Marine Corps, celebrating its rich history, and expressing gratitude for the sacrifices of service members, their families, and Marine Gold Star families across Alabama.
The Annual Tuscaloosa Gauntlet Race
Through our partnership with The Marine Reconnaissance Foundation, we honor Marine Gold Star families and fallen warriors from across Alabama by participating in the Tuscaloosa Gauntlet Race. This event blends community education, youth engagement, and healthy competition to promote wellness while preserving the legacy of our fallen. It ensures their sacrifices are remembered and that their stories continue to inspire strength and resilience in future generations.
