Lance Corporal John Thomas (JT) Sims, Jr.

John Thomas (JT) Sims, Jr. was born on August 10, 1982, and is a 2001 graduate of Benjamin Russell High School, in Alexander City, Alabama. Lance Corporal John Thomas (JT) Sims Jr., was a devoted son, brother, friend, and patriot, who passed away on April 10, 2004, in Al Anbar, Iraq. JT was the youngest of six children. From his earliest years, he embodied a vibrant spirit, and his love for life and country was unwavering.

As a child, JT found joy in the world of World Wrestling Federation, a passion that led him to the high school wrestling team, where his energy and competitive nature stood out. Known for his sense of humor, JT was often the class clown, always ready to bring a smile or laughter to those around him with pranks and jokes. Despite his modest stature of 5’2”, JT’s presence was larger than life. His friends, brothers-in-arms, and family will always remember him for his boundless charisma, infectious laughter, and unshakable loyalty.

Above all, JT’s commitment to his family, his friends, and his country defined his life. His devotion to the United States Marine Corps was profound. He cherished his identity as a “Marine” and served with pride, strength, and valor. His family shares that he loved his family and his friends, but he loved his country just as much.

JT is remembered as a brave Marine who gave his life for the freedoms we hold dear. His selflessness and courage will never be forgotten, and his legacy serves as a reminder of the cost of liberty and the men and women who ensure its preservation. He is deeply missed but forever remembered.
